Jonathan Van Ness Rehomes Dog after Cat Attack

Jonathan Van Ness, star of Queer Eye, recently shared with fans a tough situation he and his husband Mark Peacock had to navigate involving their dog, George, and cat, Liza Meownelli. George, who is a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Border Collie, and Pitt Bull, ended up accidentally injuring Liza during a misunderstanding on the stairs.

Van Ness described the incident in a series of videos posted to Instagram, explaining that George was roughhousing with Liza and in the heat of the moment, ended up breaking her jaw. Luckily, they were able to rush Liza to the emergency vet, where she underwent successful surgery. However, after this incident, Van Ness and Peacock made the difficult decision to rehome George.

Despite the fact that all their animals got along well overall, it became clear that George needed to be the only dog in a household. While saying goodbye to George was emotional, Van Ness emphasized what a good boy George is and how important it is to prioritize the well-being of all their animals.

This wasn’t the first time Van Ness and Peacock had to make the tough choice to rehome a pet. Previously, they had sent their dog Pablo to live on a farm with their dog trainer due to his anxiety in their home. Van Ness shared that although he used to judge people who rehomed animals, he now understands that sometimes it’s the best decision for both the pet and the pet parent.

Ultimately, the health and happiness of their furry family members are the top priority for Jonathan Van Ness and Mark Peacock, even if it means making difficult decisions like rehoming beloved pets.
