Ella Hunt Felt Terrified Over Boston Accent for Hulu Series

Ella Hunt recently opened up on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” about her experience working on the Hulu comedy “Not Suitable For Work.” She shared that while she has been loving her time on the show, there was one aspect that left her feeling nervous even before filming began: mastering a Boston accent for her character, AJ Pascarelli.

The idea of tackling a Boston accent in her role initially sent shivers down Hunt’s spine. She mentioned that consulting with the show’s creator, Mindy Kaling, helped calm her nerves, as she thought the accent wouldn’t be a big deal. However, just days before shooting started, Hunt received a revised script that emphasized Pascarelli’s strong Boston accent, described as “jack-in-the-box-style.”

At this point, Hunt felt a wave of panic, admitting to feeling like she was “having heart palpitations” trying to nail down the accent. She even humorously shared that she would catch herself saying phrases like “pahk yah cah in hahvahd yahd” in an attempt to get the accent right.

Despite her initial anxiety, Hunt reflected on how she takes pride in her ability to work on different dialects. But as filming progressed, the production team eventually decided that Pascarelli didn’t need the Boston accent after all, providing Hunt with a sense of relief.

In the end, Hunt jokingly shared that she was just a regular American woman living out her “Nora Ephron-style dream” while working on the show. It goes to show that even seasoned actors like Hunt can face challenges in their roles, but with perseverance, they can overcome them.
