Netflix Reveals First Look at ‘Fool Night,’ New Anime Series

Netflix has recently unveiled the first images of its new anime series, “Fool Night,” based on the well-received manga by Kasumi Yasuda. This series not only promises to bring the beloved manga to life but also marks a significant collaboration between two renowned anime studios in Japan: Sunrise and Shaft.

The official announcement was made at a Netflix Anime panel at Annecy. Scheduled for release in 2026, “Fool Night” will be the first-ever project that sees the collaboration of Sunrise, known for iconic works like “Mobile Suit Gundam” and “Cowboy Bebop,” and Shaft, famous for their distinctive style in series such as “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” and the “Monogatari” series.

The team behind “Fool Night” is equally impressive, with director Atsushi Yukawa, composition writer Jin Tanaka, sound director Yota Tsuruoka, and composer Tatsuya Kato bringing their expertise to the series. The manga itself has received critical acclaim, earning a spot in the prestigious Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list in 2023 and winning the best suspense manga award at the Japan Expo Awards (Daruma Awards) in the same year.
