Season 2 Renewal Announced for ‘The ‘Burbs’ on Peacock
Peacock just announced that they are bringing back “The ’Burbs” for a second season after a successful debut. The show, starring Keke Palmer, premiered in February with all eight episodes available at once, following a big Super Bowl promo. And it paid off! “The ’Burbs” had the biggest premiere day for an original Peacock series, with over 1.7 billion minutes viewed, and it even made it to Nielsen’s U.S. Originals Top 10 for four weeks, hitting No. 2 at one point.
“We’re excited to see that fans loved Season 1 of ‘The ’Burbs’ and now they get to dive back into Hinkley Hills with Keke and the awesome cast,” said Lisa Katz, President of scripted content at NBC and Peacock. “Congratulations to the writers, producers, and crew for taking the classic film and turning it into something funny, heartwarming, and totally modern.”
Inspired by the 1989 film, the show follows Samira (Palmer) and her husband Rob (Jack Whitehall) as they move into suburbia and quickly get caught up in a dark mystery. What starts as a curious peek at the house across the street turns into a dangerous journey that uncovers secrets and unsettling truths about their seemingly perfect neighborhood.
Created by Celeste Hughey, the series also stars Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar as quirky neighbors who find themselves tangled in the mystery too. Hughey hinted at even more suburban secrets to come, saying on social media, “Moving back home.” Looks like we have a lot more to uncover in Hinkley Hills!
