UFC and Paramount Did Not Plan to Simulcast White House Event on CBS: Report

UFC CEO Dana White had hinted at the possibility of CBS simulcasting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House last year, but it turns out that Paramount+ was always the plan for streaming it. According to a report from Sports Business Journal, the event was intended to be exclusively streamed on Paramount+, despite earlier comments suggesting CBS might be involved.
The seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights deal between Paramount and UFC ensured that all of the MMA promotion’s content would be on Paramount+. Although CBS had simulcast preliminary fights for a couple of UFC numbered events, the entirety of the UFC Freedom 250 card was only available on Paramount+.
While the decision to keep the event exclusive to streaming remains unclear, reports suggest that CBS will simulcast UFC bouts in the future. Paramount seems to be making the most of the UFC deal, with one million new subscribers gained on Paramount+ for their first UFC card in January.
