Paramount Merges Pluto TV, BET+, and Paramount+ on Tech Stack for HBO Max Integration
Paramount is streamlining its services! By mid-2026, they’ll be combining Pluto TV, BET+, and Paramount+ onto one unified tech platform. This merge isn’t just about cutting costs – it’s also a crucial step in preparing for the upcoming Warner Bros. Discovery merger, all part of a whopping $110 billion deal.
CEO David Ellison made the call earlier this year to bring these three platforms together. Currently, each service operates independently, on different clouds with no connection between them. This setup leads to duplicated systems, disjointed user experiences, and higher maintenance costs for Paramount.
By consolidating everything onto one backend, Paramount aims to offer a smoother, more integrated experience for users. The plan is to bring content discovery, user data, recommendations, and ad tech under one roof. And here’s a fun fact: BET+ has already been folded into Paramount+ after Paramount acquired Tyler Perry’s stake. Next up, Pluto TV will hop on the Paramount+ bandwagon.
But there’s more to this merger than just saving money. Paramount wants to create a playbook for seamlessly integrating HBO Max post-merger. If they can successfully merge these three services by summer, absorbing HBO Max should be a breeze later in the year. With a potential 200 million direct-to-consumer subscribers on the horizon, Paramount is gearing up for big things.
The migration of Pluto TV is being called a “complete evolution” of the platform. Advertisers stand to benefit from improved campaign management and targeting across Paramount’s offerings. For a company heavily reliant on ad revenue, consolidating their ad stack is a game-changer.
