“The Shards” by Ryan Murphy to Premiere in August on FX and Hulu
Ryan Murphy’s “The Shards” will make its debut on FX and Hulu on August 5th at 6 p.m. PT. This dark coming-of-age drama is based on Bret Easton Ellis’ thriller novel set in 1980s Los Angeles. The series follows Bret, played by Igby Rigney, an aspiring writer whose life takes a dark turn with the arrival of a new student, Robert Mallory, played by Homer Gere, and the emergence of a serial killer known as the Trawler, haunting teenagers in the Valley.
Bret’s relationships with his girlfriend Debbie and friends Susan Reynolds and Thom Wright take a complicated turn as they navigate the excesses of L.A.’s private school culture. The series also delves into the influence of the adults in their lives, including Terry Schaffer, Liz Schaffer, and Steven Reinhardt.
