Apple TV Tops Hulu, Paramount +, and Peacock in Entertainment & Streaming AI Visibility Index
Apple TV has emerged as a top contender in the Entertainment & Streaming AI Visibility Index’ for 2026, with Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ leading the way. This index, the first of its kind, ranks how generative AI engines present streaming services and entertainment platforms to consumers.
Despite having fewer subscribers than competitors like Hulu and Paramount+, Apple TV secured the #5 spot in the rankings. Interestingly, Peacock found itself in the #11 spot behind Apple TV, Hulu, Paramount+, and others in certain query categories.
According to Ronn Torossian, Founder and Chairman of 5W, the key factor driving rankings is the depth of metadata content and structured editorial infrastructure offered by streaming services. Services that prioritize content discovery tend to perform better in the rankings compared to those that hide content behind authentication walls.
The top 10 streaming services based on AI citation share, in order, are Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Hulu, YouTube Premium / YouTube TV, Paramount+, The Criterion Channel, and Mubi. The full top-20 ranking, along with breakdowns of various query categories, can be found in the report.
The study analyzed over 60 viewer-intent queries to determine rankings, including questions like “what should I watch tonight,” “best streaming service for families,” and “where can I watch [specific title].” These queries were tested across different AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
