Anna Kendrick Directs Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo Movie for Netflix

Anna Kendrick has been selected to direct the Netflix adaptation of “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” after two previous filmmakers, Maggie Betts and Leslye Headland, departed from the project. Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel from 2017, the story follows a fictional Old Hollywood star who reveals the truth behind her seven marriages and other showbiz scandals in a final interview.

Despite being picked up by Netflix in 2022, the project has faced delays. Casting details have not been announced yet, although fans have been vocal about wanting Jessica Chastain for the lead role of Evelyn Hugo. However, the actress has already stated that it’s not a possibility.

Liz Tigelaar, known for works like “Tiny Beautiful Things” and “Little Fires Everywhere,” penned the first draft of the screenplay. The adaptation is highly anticipated by fans of the novel, eager to see the story come to life on the screen.
