Guide to English-Friendly Czech Cinema and Streaming for Expats

This week in Czech cinema, there’s a lot to look forward to, especially for English speakers. Jan Svěrák, the Oscar-winning Czech director behind Kolya, has a new film out called What a Way to Go. The movie follows a group of elderly friends on one final sailing trip, grappling with illness and mortality. It’s a mix of dark humor and heartfelt moments that take an honest look at aging.

If you’re in Prague, you’re in luck because What a Way to Go is playing with English subtitles at Kino Atlas from June 1 to 3 and then again on June 6 and 7. It’s an engaging, funny, and sometimes subversive movie that doesn’t shy away from the realities of getting older.

But that’s not all – there are other English-friendly films screening at various Prague cinemas from June 1 to 6. And if you prefer to stay in and stream your entertainment, there are new releases like The Four Seasons Season 2 and Star City available for your viewing pleasure.

If TV series are more your thing, you’ll be happy to know that Deli Boys Season 2 and Dutton Ranch episodes are also now available in Czechia. And for fans of classic cinema, a restored gem called All My Good Countrymen will be screening at Kino Ponrepo on June 5.

So whether you’re into thought-provoking films or just looking for some light entertainment, there’s something for everyone in the Czech cinema and streaming scene this week. Get your popcorn ready!
