Semi Truck Fire Closes Section of I-10 in Jackson County

In the early hours of Friday morning, a semi-truck fire caused a partial closure of I-10 in Jackson County, Florida. The incident occurred on the Troy Peacock Bridge near mile marker 160.

Fortunately, the driver was able to detach the truck from the trailer and exit safely before the trailer, carrying over 5,000 gallons of motor oil, went up in flames. The leaking oil ignited, coating the bridge in fire.

Throughout the night and into the day, crews worked diligently to clean the bridge and conduct necessary inspections. Ian Satter, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Transportation, emphasized the importance of the cleanup efforts and subsequent engineering assessments to determine when full lane openings could be expected.

The eastbound side of I-10 currently has one lane open, with ongoing efforts to fully restore traffic flow. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops.
