NBA Conference Finals Viewership Surges on 05/29/2026

The NBA Conference Finals have been a hot ticket this year, with viewership on the rise, especially for the Western Conference Finals. On NBCUniversal platforms, the Oklahoma City Thunder-San Antonio Spurs matchup has been a hit, pulling in an average of 9.6 million viewers over six games. Fans have been treated to some seriously intense games, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.

NBC credits Nielsen Big Data + Panel and Adobe measurement for these impressive numbers, with 7.5 million viewers tuning in on the NBC Television Network and an additional 2.1 million catching the action on Peacock. This marks a significant uptick of 33% from last year’s numbers on NBC Television Networks and a whopping 71% increase when compared to ESPN/ABC coverage from the previous year.

Over on the Eastern side, the New York Knicks-Cleveland Cavaliers series on ESPN/ABC averaged 7.4 million viewers, a 6% increase from the previous year’s matchup between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks on TNT.

Despite some less thrilling games in the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves, which saw a decline in viewership due to blowout games, the overall excitement surrounding the NBA Conference Finals has not wavered.

Big-name advertisers like AT&T Wireless, Kia Motors, Hyundai, American Express, and DraftKings have certainly taken notice, with iSpot.tv estimating national TV advertising revenue at $164.7 million. These ads have garnered 6.1 billion impressions and aired 2,013 times on NBC Television Network and ESPN/ABC from May 18 through May 28.

It’s clear that basketball fans are tuning in and advertisers are getting in on the action, making this year’s NBA Conference Finals a slam dunk in the world of entertainment.
