Hunter Pence’s Disagreement with Giants’ Usage of Bryce Eldridge

The San Francisco Giants have been struggling this MLB season, raising questions about how they handle their top prospect, Bryce Eldridge. Eldridge’s playing time has been inconsistent since his recall to the majors on May 4.

Hunter Pence, a former Giants star, expressed his concerns about Eldridge’s limited playing time during an appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs” show. Pence emphasized the importance of regular playing time for young players like Eldridge to develop their skills and confidence in the big leagues.

Eldridge himself has admitted surprise at his lack of playing time since rejoining the team. Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow suggested that Eldridge hasn’t yet “earned” more playing time. At just 21 years old, Eldridge has started only nine out of 16 possible games since his call-up, with a .156 batting average.

Despite his struggles, Eldridge has shown improvement, including a strong performance in a recent series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This progress is encouraging for the young prospect, who is ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline.
