Boys Creator Discusses Vought Rising Spinoff’s Unique Tone
No more waiting around – The Boys may be done, but get ready for the spinoff, Vought Rising, coming your way next year! This prequel series from Prime Video is taking us back to 1950 to dive into the story of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and the breakout character from season two, Stormfront (Aya Cash). It’s a twisted murder mystery that uncovers the dark origins of the Vought corporation.
We got a chance to catch up with Eric Kripke, the brains behind The Boys, to get the lowdown on the spinoff and how it’s going to compare to the original series. According to Kripke, Vought Rising definitely has that irreverent and graphic DNA that fans love from The Boys. But there’s a whole new twist with a noir-like murder mystery vibe – not Black Noir, but the real deal. Think detectives, tons of plot twists, and a murder case that unravels into a massive conspiracy.
Kripke even spilled the beans on the vibe they’re going for in the ’50s setting. He promises a gritty take on the era, challenging the sanitized movie version of the time that most of us have in our heads. Get ready for a whole new side of the ’50s that you’ve never seen before!
