The Getaway Remake: Steve McQueen & Adolescence by Philip Barantini Team

Netflix is teaming up with director Philip Barantini, known for the mini-series Adolescence, to create a new rendition of the 1972 classic action film The Getaway starring Steve McQueen. This time, Peter Craig, who penned The Town and worked on The Batman and Bad Boys for Life, will be writing the script. Craig, fresh off producing the popular Netflix adaptation Remarkably Bright Creatures, will also produce the film alongside Bryan Unkeless through Night Owl Stories.

In addition to Barantini and Craig, the feature will be produced by Andrew Mittman for 1.21, as well as Samantha Beddoe under their banner, It’s All Made Up. Mittman played a crucial role in securing the rights to The Getaway and brought the project to Barantini and Craig. It’s exciting to see this talented team come together to breathe new life into a beloved classic for Netflix viewers soon.
