Nadine Bhabha, known for her role as Elena Rygg on “Heated Rivalry,” made a bold fashion statement at the ACTRA Awards in Toronto. She donned a floor-length gown adorned with 540 resin teeth. Designer Sahra Davaran, 23, created this stunning piece as part of her graduate collection at Toronto Metropolitan University.

The dress featured dental-like embellishments on the straps, hips, and ribcage, with more teeth running up the lace-up back. Bhabha’s stylist, Christal Williams, noted that people couldn’t help but do double takes when they saw the molar-studded gown. The matching hoop earrings added a unique touch to the ensemble.

Davaran’s collection, titled “Teeth Couture,” consisted of five looks, incorporating over 50,000 resin teeth in total. Bhabha’s dress, named “Enamel,” was meticulously crafted from 300 individually cut pieces of shirting material, singed to create a rippled texture with a soldering iron.

The inspiration for Davaran’s collection came unexpectedly when she stumbled upon a listing for resin teeth while browsing on Amazon. Intrigued, she impulsively ordered a pack and started experimenting with jewelry designs, eventually leading to a full collection.

Williams praised the transformation of something unconventional into visually striking wearable art. She and Bhabha often support emerging Canadian designers, showcasing local talent on the red carpet.

Davaran’s innovative tooth-inspired collection sparked diverse reactions, ranging from disgust to admiration, reflecting the designer’s intent to provoke mixed responses.
