Brutal Melania Trump Joke Cut From Kevin Hart’s Netflix Roast

The Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix was filled with brutal jokes, but one particular wisecrack about First Lady Melania Trump didn’t make the final cut. The special, hosted by Shane Gillis, featured a lineup of well-known comedians like Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Regina Hall, Draymond Green, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Sheryl Underwood who took turns poking fun at Hart and each other. Despite the night of rowdy roasting, one joke directed at the first lady didn’t make it to air.

According to Madison Sinclair, one of the comedy writers behind the event, a joke comparing comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to Melania Trump was axed from the show. It went something like this: “Tony is like Melania: The only thing relevant about him is that he opened for Trump once.” Although the reason for cutting the joke isn’t clear, it’s worth noting that both President Donald Trump and Melania Trump have recently called for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel to be fired over a joke he made about the first lady.

Before the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Kimmel parodied the event with his own monologue as the MC. Among his gags was a joke about Melania having the glow of an “expectant widow.” This bit resurfaced after the shooting incident, and Melania urged ABC, Kimmel’s broadcaster, to take action. The president eventually joined in, criticizing Kimmel’s humor and calling for his dismissal.

Kimmel faced backlash and suspension following the uproar, but prominent figures in Hollywood and politics, including former President Barack Obama, raised concerns about free speech and condemned the move. The Netflix special wasn’t the only platform where jokes about political figures sparked controversy, highlighting ongoing tensions between comedians, public figures, and the boundaries of humor.
