Celebrate Halloween with Jason Voorhees at Crystal Lake
It’s not a Friday, and it’s not the 13th, but the release date for the latest entry in the Friday the 13th franchise does hold some significance. Peacock just announced that Crystal Lake, the prequel series starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, will premiere on October 15. That’s a Thursday, a unique twist for the well-known horror franchise. That means, yes, this Halloween you can celebrate with Jason Voorhees. Only a much younger, less hockey-obsessed one – or so we assume. Instead of the usual February to August release for Friday the 13th films, the show dares to stand out as the first to debut in October, a mere two weeks before Halloween, with a promise of new episodes every week. Brace yourselves – with an eight-episode season in the works, you’ll be living out spooky season and maybe even extending the fright into the holidays. And hey, maybe we’ll be treated to a Halloween episode, how spooky would that be?
But wait – what exactly will we be watching? Excitingly mysterious, we don’t have all the answers just yet. What we do know is that Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, who, spoiler alert, kicked off the gory events at Camp Crystal Lake after a tragic drowning incident involving her son. We can expect the show to delve into the origins of Pamela’s murderous tendencies, her relationship with young Jason (yes, he’s in the show!), and, if early teases are to be believed, some thrilling happenings at camp. Despite a rocky road to reality, Crystal Lake is finally on its way, and we are eager to witness the chilling events unfold. The fact that it’ll be arriving just in time for Halloween makes it all the more thrilling.
Co-starring William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Crystal Lake is set to debut on Peacock on October 15. Remember to keep an eye out for more thrilling updates on what to expect from the ever-evolving worlds of Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek, as well as the latest happenings in the DC Universe both on screen and TV screens, and all the Doctor Who fans out there – we’ve got you covered. Stay tuned for the latest news that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
