Repair of 20-Inch Water Main Break in Waimanalo: Crews on the Job

The Board of Water Supply has reported a water main break on Hihimanu Street between Makulama Street and Ahiki Street in Waimanalo. Crews are actively working to repair a 20-inch main after discovering a second leak in the area, causing lower reservoir levels and resulting in little to no water pressure for residents in the affected area, stretching from Hihimanu Street to Sea Life Park.

To help manage the situation, some Waimanalo residents are being asked to conserve water by limiting their use to essential needs like cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene. For those experiencing a water service disruption, water wagons have been deployed to several locations for residents to access:

– Hanahulu Place
– 41-616 Puha St.
– 41-133 Hulu St.
– 41-209 Ilauhole St.

Additionally, an 8-inch water main break at the Waikiki Banyan Tree community on Haleiki Place has been successfully repaired. However, the full restoration of water service in the area depends on the completion of the 20-inch main repair and the recovery of reservoir levels.

It’s essential for affected residents to follow the guidance provided by BWS officials and to stay updated on the progress of the repairs. Your cooperation and understanding during this time are greatly appreciated as efforts continue to restore water service to the community.
