Elin Hinderbrand’s Book Adaptation to Peacock Series: Watch the First Trailer
Elin Hilderbrand, a successful novelist from Collegeville, has another one of her beloved beach reads coming to the small screen. “The Five-Star Weekend,” based on Hilderbrand’s novel of the same name, is set to premiere on Peacock on July 9th. This eight-episode series tells the story of a widow and food blogger who seeks solace with her four best friends from different stages of her life, in a storyline that deviates from the expected “joyful Hallmark movie” trope.
Jennifer Garner leads the cast as Hollis Shaw, the host of the girls’ weekend getaway. Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, and D’Arcy Carden, along with Gemma Chan, complete the cast as Hollis’s best friends. The series also features a storyline involving Hollis’s daughter Caroline and her first boyfriend Jack, played by Timothy Olyphant.
This adaptation marks the second time Hilderbrand’s work has made it to television, following the Netflix mystery series “The Perfect Couple.” Growing up in Montgomery County and spending summers in Cape Cod, Hilderbrand eventually became a full-time resident of Nantucket, which serves as the backdrop for many of her stories.
