Pentagon Partners with US University for New War Degree Program

Arizona State University has landed a federal contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to roll out a new degree program focused on war and strategy. The university, located in Tempe, just announced this new master’s degree program designed for active military personnel and civilian workers with an interest in military and defense strategies.

This program aims to award up to 24 degrees every year, with students needing approval from the defense department to enroll. The coursework will feature intensive seminars, war games, and even visits to historical conflict sites to provide a hands-on learning experience.

Richard Avramenko, the director of the ASU School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership, expressed enthusiasm about this new offering, stating, “The new master’s in war and strategy is an exciting addition to our offerings, and demonstrates our commitment to the country we call home.”

This degree program falls under the government’s Strategic Thinkers Program, which was previously hosted at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies before ASU’s successful proposal submission.
