Smiling Friends Creator Partners With Netflix for Animated Series

Adult Swim fans were sad to bid farewell to Smiling Friends earlier this year when the creators announced that the third season would be its last. But don’t worry, the creators of Pim, Charlie, Alan, and Mr. Boss are not done yet. In an exciting new development, co-creator Michael Cusack has shared that he is working on a new animated series for Netflix. This new show, titled “Dad’s House,” will center around thirteen-year-old Sean and his adventures with his divorced father, Ian. As they navigate their relationship, Ian struggles to make his dreams come true.

While we don’t have a trailer or release date yet, a sneak peek from The Hollywood Reporter shows that Dad’s House will have a similar animation style to Cusack’s previous work on Adult Swim’s YOLO. Cusack, along with co-creator Zach Hadel, decided to end Smiling Friends after three seasons. They both felt that it was the right time to close that chapter and move on to new projects.

It’s worth noting that Cusack has left the door open for a possible return to the Smiling Friends universe in the future. While Zach Hadel’s involvement in new projects is yet to be confirmed, his experience in animations like SpongeBob SquarePants and Helluva Boss shows his versatility in the field.
