Howdy’s $3/month Ad-Free Streaming Service with 1M Subscribers

Howdy, the $3/month ad-free streaming service, has hit a milestone with over 1 million subscribers, according to research firm Antenna. Launched by Roku in August, Howdy offers viewers a budget-friendly option without any pesky commercials.

Antenna’s estimates reveal that almost 300,000 people jumped on the Howdy bandwagon in August, with another 100,000 signing up each month thereafter. Initially only available through The Roku Channel, Howdy quickly became a favorite, representing 23 percent of all SVOD subscriptions made through the channel.

Recently, Howdy expanded its reach by offering the service through Amazon Prime Video and as standalone iOS and Android apps. While the service may not have the latest releases, its collection features popular titles like Raw Deal (1986) and Edge of Tomorrow (2014).

Despite the rather dated selections, the affordability factor has struck a chord with streaming subscribers. Antenna reports that over half of those who signed up for Howdy in late 2025 are still subscribed, surpassing industry averages.

Roku remains optimistic about Howdy’s success, hinting at the addition of newer titles in the future. Lisa Holme, the head of content at Roku, pointed out that most Howdy subscribers are existing Roku Channel viewers who are simply adding Howdy to their streaming options.

In a world of increasing subscription costs and annoying ads, Howdy’s straightforward approach and low price point have clearly resonated with viewers. So, if you’re looking for a no-frills, ad-free streaming experience at an unbeatable price, Howdy might just be your new go-to option.
