A List: 15 Stories From Asian and Pacific Diasporas Premiere Date May 13

HBO is set to premiere a new documentary, “The A List: 15 Stories From Asian and Pacific Diasporas,” on May 13. This documentary, available for streaming on HBO Max, presents a collection of personal stories from the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities in the United States.

Featuring a diverse range of voices, from well-known figures like Sandra Oh to everyday heroes like retired nurse Madelyn Yu, this film aims to move beyond broad labels like “Asian American” and “AAPI” to showcase the unique individuals and communities within these groups.

The documentary includes interviews with a variety of individuals, such as journalist Connie Chung, Senator Tammy Duckworth, athlete Schuyler Bailar, and activist Amanda Nguyen, among others. Each participant shares their personal experiences, highlighting the rich tapestry of cultures and histories that make up the Asian and Pacific Island communities.

Directed by Eugene Yi and executive produced by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, “The A List” is part of a larger series that explores the stories of underrepresented communities. Past projects from this series include “The Black List,” “The Trans List,” and “The Latino List.”
