High-Stakes Gambler Implicates UTA’s Jim Berkus and Son in Legal Trouble

It seems like things are heating up in the world of Hollywood drama. First, Ari Emanuel was in the hot seat, and now UTA co-founder Jim Berkus has been pulled into the legal mess involving RJ Cipriani and Jeff Shell.

According to sources, Berkus has been subpoenaed by Cipriani’s attorneys, just like Emanuel was before him. The lawsuit filed by Cipriani on March 9 against Shell is full of text messages between him and Emanuel, so it’s not surprising that Berkus is now involved.

This is the first time Berkus has been mentioned in the saga, and it seems he was connected to a reality show called “Star Serenade” created by Cipriani and his wife. It’s interesting to note that Berkus, who represents big names like Harrison Ford and the Coen Brothers, was also involved in this smaller project.

The subpoena is asking Berkus to hand over all sorts of documents related to “Star Serenade,” including pitches, treatments, and communications with networks and streaming platforms.

But it’s not just Berkus who’s been dragged into this mess. His son, Jordan, who is an agent at UTA, and agency partner Andrew Lear have also received subpoenas. It’s unclear how they are involved, but it seems like everyone connected to this case is being called in for questioning.

One industry source close to Cipriani said, “RJ is like, ‘I’ll burn down everybody’s house.'” It looks like this legal drama is far from over.
