NBCUniversal Peacock Sees Loss in Q1 2026 But Gains Subscribers
NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock, is making waves in the first quarter of 2026. Despite a loss of $432 million, up from $215 million last year, their revenue hit $2.0 billion. This increase is thanks to a growth in paid subscribers and higher rates.
By the end of March 2026, Peacock had accumulated an impressive 46 million paying subscribers. The addition of NBA games and the Winter Olympics played a significant role in this growth, boosting their numbers from 44 million in the previous quarter and 41 million a year ago.
Comcast’s CFO, Jason Armstrong, is optimistic about the future. He mentioned in an analyst call that Peacock is on track to become profitable in the current quarter, marking a turning point for the flagship platform. Overall, Comcast reported revenues of $31.5 billion, exceeding analyst predictions and showcasing significant growth from the previous year’s $29.9 billion.
Despite this growth, net income for the media conglomerate decreased by 35.6%, dropping to $2.2 billion. Adjusted earnings per share also declined to 79 cents from $1.09 a year ago. However, analysts had forecast per-share earnings of 73 cents, so the results were better than expected.
The successful revenue increase was largely attributed to the Winter Olympics and the NFL’s Super Bowl game. These major events brought in an extra $2.2 billion in revenue and showcased the strength of Comcast’s media portfolio. Overall, the first quarter results paint a promising picture for NBCUniversal and its streaming platform, Peacock.
