Alicia Silverstone ‘Clueless’ Sequel Series Not Moving Forward at Peacock

“Clueless” fans, we have an update on the highly anticipated sequel series that was previously in development at Peacock. Unfortunately, it looks like the series, which would have featured Alicia Silverstone reprising her role as Cher Horowitz, is no longer moving forward at the NBCU streamer.

This project was first announced as being in development back in April 2025. While it’s disappointing news, sources say that CBS Studios and Paramount are still excited about the project and the beloved “Clueless” IP. With such a dedicated fanbase and an impressive creative team behind it, there’s no doubt that this series would generate a lot of interest when it’s taken out to buyers again.

Although we don’t have specific plot details for the show, it was supposed to follow Cher’s life after the events of the original film. The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss, who are set to write and executive produce. Alicia Silverstone is not only starring but also serving as an executive producer. It’s a powerhouse team that also includes the original film’s writer and director, Amy Heckerling, and producer, Robert Lawrence.

Interestingly, Peacock had previously worked on a separate “Clueless” project in 2020 that focused on Cher’s best friend, Dionne, but that project didn’t progress past the development stage.

For those who adore the iconic 1995 film “Clueless,” this news may come as a disappointment, but it’s not the end of the road for this beloved IP. Stay tuned for any future updates on the “Clueless” universe and its potential return to the small screen.
