86th Annual Peabody Award Winners announced at Grady College UGA
Winners of the 86th Annual Peabody Awards were announced recently, celebrating the most captivating and inspiring stories in broadcasting and streaming media from the past year. With 34 total wins, 11 were in entertainment and 10 in documentaries. From heartfelt stories about caregivers in an emergency room to the experiences of professional hockey players, this year’s honorees delivered a diverse selection of compelling storytelling.
Among the winners were titles like “The Pitt,” “South of Midnight” (an interactive game), “Pluribus,” “Forever,” and “Heated Rivalry.” These remarkable works were recognized for their powerful narratives and impact on viewers. The 2026 Peabody Awards also honored individuals like Amy Poehler, Sterlin Harjo, and James L. Brooks, as well as PBS KIDS for their contributions to the industry.
This year’s ceremony, happening on May 31, will have a different format, focusing on a unified celebration of winners grouped under shared thematic categories. Entertainment titles dominated, securing 11 awards, while documentaries followed closely with 10 wins. HBO Max stood out with six awards, leading the pack alongside Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and PBS, each snagging two awards. The event, produced by Liz Kelly and ROK Productions, will be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills and Delta Air Lines is the supporting sponsor.
Among the winners announced were PBS News Hour for their powerful piece on “Immigration Crackdown,” shedding light on critical issues surrounding immigration policies.
