Kodak Releases New KODAK VERITA 200D Color Negative Film

Eastman Kodak Company has introduced a new color negative motion picture film stock called VERITA 200D 5206/7206, which comes in 65mm, 35mm, and 16mm formats. Developed in partnership with writer, director, and producer Sam Levinson and cinematographer Marcell Rév, HCA, ASC, this film was specifically created to give the HBO series Euphoria its unique visual style for the third season.

VERITA 200D provides detailed highlights, vibrant color saturation, deep blacks, and natural-looking skin tones. It has a slightly shorter dynamic range compared to Kodak’s VISION3 color negative films, resulting in a more classic cinematic look.

During the production of Euphoria Season 3, over a million feet of VERITA 200D were used in 35mm and 65mm formats. The new season, shot entirely on KODAK film, is set to premiere on April 12, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max, making it the first TV show to extensively use large-format 65mm film.

Cinematographer Marcell Rév praised VERITA 200D, stating that it combines the richness and density of classic color films with the flexibility of modern stocks. The film has already been utilized in various commercials and music videos, as well as in the upcoming film The Death of Robin Hood, directed by Michael Sarnoski, starring Hugh Jackman, and lensed by Pat Scola, ASC.

Kodak’s Vice President and Head of Motion Picture, Vanessa Bendetti, highlighted that the release of VERITA 200D showcases the company’s ongoing dedication to providing filmmakers with top-quality creative tools. As a specialty motion picture stock, VERITA 200D 5206/7206 can be requested through a Kodak sales representative.
