Artemis 2 Moon Flyby: NASA Mission Livestream on Netflix Today

On Monday, Nasa’s Artemis 2 mission will be showcasing a historic event—the flyby around the Moon. The good news is that you can catch all the action live on Nasa’s website, YouTube, Amazon, and even Netflix.

The flypast is expected to last almost seven hours, starting at 6:45 pm GMT (12:15 am IST and 2:45 pm eastern US time) and wrapping up around 1:20 am GMT. This will mark the first time in over fifty years that astronauts will fly around the Moon, passing behind the far side of the Moon that is not visible from Earth.

During the livestream, you can expect to hear commentary from the astronauts on the mission as well as experts at the Mission Control center in Houston, Texas. Just a heads-up though, Nasa has mentioned that the long distance covered during this event—the farthest any human has traveled from Earth—may affect video quality.

The Artemis 2 mission set off on April 1 from Launch Pad 39B at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, sending four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft on a test flight around the Moon and back. As the crew flies behind the Moon during the event, there will be a 40-minute period where all communication will be cut off.

What makes this flyby even more exciting is that the astronauts will reach the farthest distance from Earth that humans have ever traveled just before it begins. The lunar far side will be partly illuminated, enhancing the relief and revealing hidden details of ridges, slopes, and crater rims that are not easily visible in full light.
