New Macs: Apple’s April Releases

April is looking like a relatively quiet month for Apple fans, with not a lot of new hardware expected aside from the highly anticipated M5 Mac updates. While the M5 Mac mini might make an appearance soon due to dwindling M4 stock, other products like the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are patiently waiting for Siri improvements set for release in OS 27.

The focus for Apple this month seems to be on content, with new Apple TV+ shows like “Your Friends and Neighbors” season 2 and fresh Apple Arcade games such as “Dredge+” hitting the scene.

Although the 50th anniversary of Apple is a significant event this month, beyond that, there might not be much to expect in terms of new hardware releases. The OS 26.5 updates are still in beta testing, with a slim chance of a wide release by the end of the month. However, a major Siri overhaul is not expected until the release of OS 27 later this year. So, for now, all eyes are on WWDC in June for any hardware news.

In terms of recent releases, the AirPods Max 2, announced in March, have only just started shipping in April. These new headphones feature an upgraded audio processor from the H1 to the H2, along with enhancements to noise cancellation.

Looking ahead, the rumored M5 Mac mini, M5 Ultra Mac Studio, and M5 iMac are on the horizon, potentially arriving in the first half of 2026. Additionally, new products like a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and a rumored smart home hub dubbed “HomePad” are in the works but are dependent on the new Siri capabilities, which are delayed until OS 27.

On the software side, iOS 26.5 and other 26.5 releases are currently in beta testing with few new features revealed so far. The final release is expected to drop in early May, possibly late April.

When it comes to Apple TV+, there are quite a few exciting releases on the horizon, including the return of “Your Friends and Neighbors” for its second season and new shows like “Outcome” and “Criminal Record.” Apple Arcade is also not to be missed, with games like “Dredge+” and “Unpacking+” hitting the platform early this month.
