New ‘Gallifreyan Academy’ Doctor Who Series by Alex Kurtzman to Premiere on BBC and Paramount+

BBC and Paramount+ are teaming up to bring fans a new Doctor Who spin-off series called Gallifreyan Academy. This show will follow a diverse group of young Gallifreyans as they train at the prestigious academy, offering viewers an intimate look at the formative years of iconic Time Persons in the Doctor Who universe. Production is set to kick off later this year in a co-production between BBC and Paramount+.

Set long before the Doctor’s travels in the TARDIS, Gallifreyan Academy focuses on the female-presenting Doctor as she navigates life alongside fellow students like the Master and the Rani. These characters will attend classes, form friendships and rivalries, explore identity and first loves, and face a mysterious new threat that challenges the very foundation of Gallifreyan society.

Showrunner Alex Kurtzman expressed excitement about welcoming viewers into the world of Gallifreyan Academy, offering a fresh perspective on the Doctor and other legendary characters.
