Netflix Possibly Looking to Acquire NFL Thanksgiving Eve and International Games

Netflix is making some moves with the NFL, and it looks like they’re in the game for good. Reports say they’re eyeing a Thanksgiving Eve game and an international matchup to add to their streaming lineup.
Apparently, Netflix has its sights set on broadening its current NFL deal to include an exclusive game the night before Thanksgiving and an international game early in the season. Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, the buzz around these potential matchups is growing.
Coming off a three-year contract deal to air Christmas Day NFL games, Netflix is looking to capitalize on their existing audience. They’re hoping to expand their holiday football package from two games to four, with the potential addition of games that go beyond the Christmas season.
It’s still uncertain how all these new games will factor into the league’s recent deal to sell NFL Network rights to Disney. But with all these potential deals on the table, it’s clear that the NFL is opening up more opportunities for streamers like Netflix to snag premium games.
While this news might not come as a shock, especially given Netflix’s previous interest in NFL content, it’s interesting timing. Just last week, reports showed that Netflix had to makeup for lower-than-expected viewer numbers during last year’s Christmas games. But despite any bumps along the way, it seems like Netflix is staying in the game and looking to score big with a growing NFL streaming audience.
