Steel Ball Run Coming Back This Year
Finally, there’s some news about the release of Steel Ball Run: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Well, sort of. At AnimeJapan, Netflix gave us a glimpse of a new trailer hinting at the show entering a “Second Stage” later this year. But here’s the catch – as of now, it’s not clear if this will be just one single episode or multiple ones, and if it’s the latter, how the rollout is going to happen. Netflix has been quite mysterious about the details, which understandably has fans a bit worried, especially after how Stone Ocean was handled last year. The curiosity is heightened by some interesting comments from the Jojo’s staff. The manga’s French translator, Anthony Prezman, politely asked Netflix to review the release strategy, emphasizing that Steel Ball Run’s tension-packed storytelling unfolds arc by arc, week by week. Kimura, the series director, noted that everything is moving forward smoothly but even he seemed puzzled about the timing of new episodes.
io9 has reached out to Netflix for more clarity on the situation, but until then, all we can do is discuss the enticing new trailer. The racers are gearing up for the next leg of their journey across nearly 750 miles of desert, ominously known as “the Devil’s Path” due to its dark history involving 26 calvarymen. As if the trek isn’t challenging enough, a racer is found murdered, turning others into potential suspects and putting their safety at risk. Steel Ball Run will be available exclusively on Netflix upon release, and we’ll provide updates as soon as we get them. Need more from io9?
