PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) Achieves Major Milestone on March 26
Big news in the energy industry! PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) recently hit a major milestone by successfully loading out the Manpatu project jacket in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands on March 26, 2026. This gas and condensate field, located 35 km off Balikpapan, is set to have a capacity of 80 MMSCFD. The project includes a hefty 1,380-tonne jacket, a 1,100-tonne topside, 2.5 km of subsea pipelines, and the drilling of 11 new wells. Impressive, right?
One cool thing about this project is that PHM is leading the charge in exclusively using local Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) pipes for the subsea system, all while maintaining a stellar safety record of over 2 million man-hours without any Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
In other news, iCents Group’s subsidiary, Maytech Cleanroom Manufacturing, secured a significant RM14.1 million (approximately $3.2 million) contract for a data center project in Indonesia. This project underscores the group’s growing presence in the regional data center market and is expected to boost future earnings.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh is taking steps to ensure energy security by importing around 192,000 tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Australia, Indonesia, and the US. These imports are crucial to offsetting the impact of the global energy crisis on domestic supply.
Lastly, Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) is gearing up to acquire an indirect stake in German grid operator Amprion from Talanx. This strategic move is part of a larger plan to invest significantly in Germany’s power grid infrastructure. Amprion, with over 11,000 km of extra-high-voltage lines, aims to invest €36.4 billion by 2029 in building or upgrading 9,300 km of network to support increasing energy demands. Exciting times ahead!
