Netflix Price Increase: All Streaming Plans Affected
Netflix recently announced that they have increased the prices across all of their streaming plans for the first time since January 2025. The streaming giant has bumped up the cost of each subscription tier by at least $1.
Now, the ad-supported plan will set you back $8.99 a month, up from $7.99; the standard plan is now $19.99 a month, up from $17.99; and the premium plan is now $26.99, up from $24.99. Additionally, extra member pricing has also been increased, with ad-supported plans now costing $6.99 per additional non-household user, up from $5.99, and ad-free add-ons now costing $9.99, up from $8.99 each.
This price adjustment comes as Netflix has been pouring resources into creating new content, including delving into the live events space and venturing into video podcasts. The last time they raised prices was back in January 2025.
Netflix executives have defended these price increases by pointing to the vast amount of content available on the platform and explaining that subscription costs are crucial for investing in new projects. During their January earnings report, the company revealed plans to spend $20 billion in 2026 on content, up from $18 billion in 2025.
The streaming platform has projected revenue in 2026 to range between $50.7 billion and $51.7 billion, attributing the increase to growth in membership and pricing, as well as a projected doubling of ad revenue compared to the previous year. Despite plans to acquire the Warner Bros. studio and HBO Max streaming service, Netflix ultimately decided not to match a higher bid from Paramount back in February.
Like many other streaming services, Netflix is striving to achieve profitability for its subscription business through these price adjustments. So, if you’re a Netflix subscriber, you might want to take note of these changes and plan accordingly.
