HBO Max Launches in the UK: A Major Shake-Up for TV Fans

HBO Max has officially launched in the UK, bringing with it a treasure trove of content. This US streaming service showcases HBO content, Warner Bros Pictures and Television, DC Studios, and Max Originals shows and films. One exciting development for UK TV fans is the return of Friends to a streaming service in the UK. Additionally, the Harry Potter films will be available, along with new seasons of Euphoria and House Of The Dragon. There’s even a new Harry Potter TV series in the works, set to premiere next year.

Subscription plans start at just £4.99 a month, with options for ad-supported or ad-free viewing. If you’re a TNT Sports subscriber, you’re in luck because you can access your subscription on HBO Max. Sky Glass and Sky Stream customers, along with Ultimate TV and Sky Q customers, will find the app automatically included at no extra cost.

According to Ernest Doku, a broadband and TV expert at Uswitch, the launch of HBO Max in the UK signifies a “major shake-up” for TV enthusiasts. Notably, Sky is the only major provider bundling HBO Max at no additional charge. With Sky’s broadband and Ultimate TV package, you get ad-supported versions of HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+, and Hayu. If you were to pay for all these services individually, it would cost you around £28 a month. However, with Sky’s bundle, which also includes their suite of channels and fibre broadband, you’re looking at just £39 a month. It’s a fantastic deal for a lot of top-notch content!

One thing to keep in mind is that this bundle does require a 24-month contract and includes ads. If you are someone who mainly watches only one or two platforms, this deal might not suit your needs. But if you’re someone who enjoys a variety of streaming services, this could be the perfect entertainment hub for your home!
