BTS Live Comeback Concert Draws 18.4 Million Global Viewers on Netflix

A recent BTS comeback concert on Netflix was a huge hit, drawing in a whopping 18.4 million global viewers. Fans were thrilled to see all seven members performing together for the first time since October 2022, when they took a break to fulfill their mandatory military service.

The free concert took place at Gwanghwamun Square in front of an audience of about 104,000 people, though this was lower than the expected 260,000 attendees. Despite the slight dip, the event marked the beginning of BTS’s sold-out 82-date world tour and was streamed live on Netflix to over 190 countries, including South Korea.

While only 22,000 lucky fans secured free tickets to the main concert venue, others watched on screens set up along nearby streets. To ensure safety, the government deployed 7,000 police officers, including SWAT units equipped with anti-drone systems.

The concert was a massive success for Netflix, topping the company’s rankings in 24 countries. This event is just one example of Netflix’s push into live event broadcasting, following other successful streams like Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match and Alex Honnald’s climb up a Taiwanese skyscraper.

BTS’s reunion is expected to bring in over $1 billion for their record label, BigHit and Hybe, through concerts, merchandise, licensing, album sales, and streaming revenue. This is great news for the group, as BTS is the main source of income for Hybe. Fans can look forward to more exciting content and performances from BTS in the future!
