Tina Fey to Adapt Finlay Donovan Series for Peacock

Fans of Elle Cosimano’s Finlay Donovan book series will soon have a treat with a TV adaptation in the works by Tina Fey and Lang Fisher for Peacock. The mystery novels, set in Northern Virginia, will be coming to the small screen.

Elle Cosimano shared her excitement on social media, expressing her elation and joy at the announcement. No details about the release date or casting have been revealed yet.

The Finlay Donovan series follows Finlay, a single mother and struggling writer who accidentally gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity as an assassin for hire. The stories are described as fun, lighthearted, and heartfelt mysteries that Finlay must unravel. Cosimano, a Virginia resident, drew inspiration from the DMV area, specifically South Riding, for the setting of the books.

The first book, “Finlay Donovan Is Killing It,” was released in 2022, with seven books now part of the collection. The latest installment, “Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line,” sees Donovan’s partner-in-crime facing legal troubles in Maryland, and Donovan sets out to clear her name.

Apart from the Finlay Donovan series, Cosimano has penned other works such as “Staged” and various young adult novels. She also has an upcoming mystery novel co-written with Hannah Morrissey scheduled for release on October 13.

Fans of the books can look forward to seeing their beloved characters come to life on the screen, with the talented team of Fey and Fisher leading the way in bringing this engaging series to new audiences.
