Tallahassee woman sentenced for grand theft over $500K from employer

In Tallahassee, a woman named Regina Peacock recently pleaded no contest to grand theft after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer. The court sentenced her to 90 days in jail, which she will serve only on weekends. Additionally, she has been ordered to repay the over $500,000 that she unlawfully took.

According to court documents, Peacock, who was an office manager at a Tallahassee doctor’s office, created duplicate employee profiles in the company’s payroll systems to receive extra payments. She managed to pay herself $509,633 between January 2018 and March 2025, as indicated by court records. Peacock claimed she was using the funds to help a homeless woman over the course of several years.
