Maya Rudolph to Make Broadway Debut In ‘Oh, Mary!’

Get ready to see Maya Rudolph on the Broadway stage! The SNL star is set to make her debut in the play “Oh, Mary!” where she will be taking on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln. This exciting news kicks off on April 28 and will run for an eight-week engagement until June 20.

Rudolph steps into the shoes of Mary Todd Lincoln, a character reimagined as a wannabe cabaret star with a love for a good drink. The role was originated by Cole Escola and has also been portrayed by other talented stars such as John Cameron Mitchell, Jinkx Monsoon, and Jane Krakowski, just to name a few.

In a statement, Rudolph expressed her excitement for this new opportunity, saying, “Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamed of being Cole Escola. ‘Oh, Mary!’ is the funniest play I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of plays, you’d be surprised.” She also mentioned her gratitude for playing such an iconic role after many others have done it before her.

Aside from her upcoming Broadway debut, Rudolph has been keeping busy with roles in the Apple TV+ series “Loot” and voicing Connie the Hormone Mistress on the animated show “Big Mouth.”

The Broadway production of “Oh, Mary!” has been a hit and has extended its run until Jan. 3, 2027. The play originally premiered on July 11, 2024, at the Lyceum Theatre and has expanded to the West End and a North American tour launching in Hartford, Conn., in Sept. 2026.
