Peacock Acquires US Streaming Rights to Sky’s UK Version of Saturday Night Live

Peacock has some exciting news for comedy fans in the US! They’ve snagged the streaming rights to Saturday Night Live UK and will be bringing it to American screens the day after it premieres in the UK.

For those who aren’t familiar, Saturday Night Live UK is a British twist on the iconic American show that has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years. The UK version will debut on Sky One on March 21, featuring a talented cast of 11 members, including familiar faces like Emma Sidi, Jack Shep, and Hammed Animashaun.

What makes SNL UK unique is that each episode is written, rehearsed, and performed in the week leading up to the show, giving it a fresh and spontaneous feel. The show will include all the elements fans love, from an opening monologue to topical sketches, live music, and a British take on SNL’s classic news satire, Weekend Update.

Behind the scenes, a team of comedy veterans and talented producers, directors, and writers are working hard to make SNL UK a success. Lisa Clark, a well-known name in UK comedy, is on board as the commissioning executive, while James Longman, Liz Clare, and Daran Jonno Johnson lead the production, direction, and writing teams.

According to Liz Jenkins, chief business officer at NBCUniversal Entertainment, bringing SNL UK to Peacock is a natural next step for the iconic comedy brand. As the streaming home of Saturday Night Live, Peacock is thrilled to showcase new British talent to a global audience.

So get ready to laugh, because Saturday Night Live UK is coming to a screen near you soon!
