WWE NXT Peacock Deal Expiration: What to Know

WWE’s deal with Peacock may be on the brink of expiring if a new agreement isn’t reached soon, potentially leaving WWE NXT without a home. Starting with the successful launch of the WWE Network, a treasure trove of WWE content including PPVs, ECW footage, and more, all found its place within NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service.

Back in 2021, just before WrestleMania 37, the partnership between NBCUniversal and WWE commenced, transitioning WWE Network content over to Peacock. Recently, WWE made a groundbreaking deal with Netflix, giving the streaming giant global rights to Monday Night Raw and international rights to SmackDown, NXT, documentaries, and PLEs.
As the clock ticks on the current deal, reports suggest that WWE NXT content might be bidding farewell to Peacock in just about a week if the two parties are unable to renew their agreement. The upcoming NXT Stand & Deliver event could be the last live show under the existing deal, with only a handful of titles, like the WWE Evil series, and Saturday Night’s Main Event still left on Peacock.

According to discussions from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, where NXT live events and archives could end up in the United States is still up in the air. Meanwhile, WWE’s move of most of its content over to ESPN’s streaming service marked a major step, narrowing down Peacock’s WWE offerings to just NXT Premium Live Events and Saturday Night’s Main Event shows.

On the other hand, the relationship between WWE and ESPN is facing some bumps, as noted by TKO Group President Mark Shapiro. Criticizing ESPN’s app pricing, Shapiro highlighted the strain it puts on WWE fans, noting the need for broader accessibility through agreements with more TV providers. Despite these challenges, the future of WWE content distribution remains intriguing. More news and developments are sure to come as WWE navigates these streaming landscape shifts.
