Steve Carell’s ‘Rooster’ Show Includes Wife Nancy Cameo
Steve Carell recently shared how it felt working with his wife, Nancy Carell, on the new HBO show called “Rooster.” The idea for this comedy series came from a unique place – an empty chicken coop. The creators, Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs,” “Shrinking”) and Matt Tarses (“Bad Monkey,” “Sports Night”), mentioned that they all have daughters in their early 20s and are experiencing the common challenge of wanting to be involved in their lives while also letting them grow independently.
According to Tarses, the motivation behind their actions isn’t just about protecting their daughters but also about staying connected as they transition into adulthood. In “Rooster,” which airs on Sundays at 10 ET/PT and is available for streaming on HBO Max, Steve Carell plays Greg Russo, a divorced writer with a successful career. Greg becomes a writer in residence at Ludlow College, where his daughter Katie, played by Charly Clive, is a teacher. The storyline involves Greg trying to support Katie during her separation from her husband, Archie, who has found new love with a graduate student.
Phil Dunster, who plays Archie, collaborated with Lawrence on “Ted Lasso” and brings depth to his character through gradual development. Lawrence describes Archie as an “Eddie Haskell” type from “Leave It to Beaver,” someone who can behave badly while still eliciting a strange sense of sympathy from viewers. Stay tuned for more entertainment from these talented actors and creators as the show continues to unfold.
