Community Scribe Talks About Delayed Movie for Peacock
Fans of the beloved TV show Community have been eagerly awaiting news of the long-anticipated movie ever since it was first mentioned. The excitement has been building for quite some time, and now, co-writer Andrew Guest has shed some light on why the project has been stuck in development limbo for so long.
In a recent interview on The Watch podcast, Guest revealed just how close the movie came to starting production. It turns out that after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes had ended, the project was nearly ready to go. The cast was on board, a line producer was in place, and the script was being polished up. But then, a scheduling conflict with one of the actors threw a wrench into the works, causing another delay.
Despite these setbacks, Guest implored fans not to place blame on anyone involved. It seems that the delays have been more about logistics than creative issues, which should give fans some hope that the movie will eventually come to fruition.
Over the years, there have been several false starts and missed opportunities for the Community movie. Peacock’s 2022 announcement seemed like a promising start, with key cast members set to return. However, multiple planned start dates have come and gone without any real progress. Despite this, the core cast members, including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, and Donald Glover, remain committed to the project, whenever it may happen.
So, will the Community movie ever get back on track? Only time will tell, but for now, it seems that the biggest hurdles are logistical rather than creative. And that’s a step in the right direction for fans who are eagerly awaiting a reunion with their favorite Greendale group.
