Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s Favorite NYC Vintage Shop Owner Shares Insights

Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s timeless style lives on at a vintage shop right here in Manhattan. This week, the store revealed that the fashion icon frequented their SoHo location in the ’90s, making it her go-to spot for her beloved Levi’s jeans.

What Goes Around Comes Around on West Broadway was just a quick walk from Carolyn’s Tribeca loft, so she would pop in every few months to check out their collection. The store’s CEO, Seth Weisser, shared that she was always polite and sweet, never putting on any airs despite her status.

Levi’s jeans were a staple in Carolyn’s wardrobe, as they were for every ‘It Girl’ then and now, according to Weisser. She was ahead of the curve in appreciating their classic appeal. When it came time to dress Sarah Pidgeon, the actress portraying Carolyn in the miniseries “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,” the show’s costume department sought out vintage pieces from the shop to capture Carolyn’s essence.

While Carolyn had a variety of jeans, her favorite was the bootcut Levi’s 517, with prices ranging from $150 to $750. She also picked up unique gowns for events with JFK Jr., always aiming to stand out from the crowd. Even back in the ’90s, Carolyn understood the value of vintage, thanks to her background at Calvin Klein.

Weisser, originally from Long Island, has seen his business flourish over the years, attracting celebrity clients like Lenny Kravitz, Rihanna, and Kendall Jenner. He credits Carolyn for being an influencer long before social media, spreading the word about the shop through her cool fashion choices. It’s clear that her timeless style will continue to inspire fashion trends for years to come.
