Melania Announces Release Date on Amazon Prime Video

The documentary “Melania,” which takes viewers through the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration, is set to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 9th. Directed by Brett Ratner, known for the “Rush Hour” films, this project marks his return to the director’s chair after facing accusations of sexual misconduct in 2017.

Following the acquisition of the rights to “Melania” for $75 million by Amazon MGM Studios, the Trump family received a significant payday. Despite underperforming in theaters, the documentary exceeded expectations by debuting with $7 million and eventually earning $16.6 million, with older white women being its core audience.

Critics were less impressed with “Melania,” giving it an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety’s review described it as a “cheeseball infomercial of staggering inertia,” criticizing its lack of depth and authenticity. Chief film critic Owen Gleiberman noted that the documentary felt manufactured and lacked the dramatic elements needed to engage viewers.
