Seth MacFarlane Provides Exciting Update on The Orville Season 4

Don’t give up hope, fans of “The Orville”! It looks like Season 4 might be in the works sooner rather than later. Seth MacFarlane, the talented creator and star of the show, recently shared some exciting news with The Hollywood Reporter. He spilled the beans that Season 4 is already written, it’s just a matter of finding the time to bring it to life. MacFarlane mentioned that all 10 scripts are ready to go, hinting at another 10-episode season. However, he humbly admits that he’s the one causing the delay. It all depends on when he can dedicate his year to making it happen, juggling his time promoting “Ted,” Season 2 on Peacock, as well as working on his other projects like “Family Guy” and “American Dad!” from Fox, among others.

For those not familiar, “The Orville” brings us into the 25th century aboard a starship captained by Seth MacFarlane’s character, Ed Mercer. The talented cast includes Adrianne Palicki as Mercer’s ex-wife and first officer Kelly Grayson, Penny Johnson Jerald as the ship’s chief medical officer Claire Finn, Scott Grimes as Lieutenant Gordon Malloy, and Peter Macon as the alien second officer, Bortus.

The show originally debuted on Fox in 2017 and later made its home on Hulu for the third season titled “The Orville: New Horizons,” which aired in 2022. Even though there have been bumps along the road, MacFarlane has stayed optimistic about the possibility of Season 4. While there’s been some uncertainty, with Palicki expressing difficulties and doubts about returning due to scheduling conflicts, the hope for another season is still alive and well.
