Richard Osman Steps Down as Host of House of Games on BBC

Richard Osman is saying goodbye to House of Games after nearly a decade at the helm. The popular TV personality and bestselling author has been hosting the show since it first aired on BBC Two in 2017. But in a recent podcast episode, Osman announced that it’s time for someone else to take over the reins.

After one final week of filming, House of Games will no longer be Richard Osman’s domain. He expressed his love for the show and the honor it has been to host it, but he feels that it’s time to pass the torch. While a new host has yet to be announced, the BBC promises that the reveal is coming soon.

Rob Unsworth, the BBC’s Head of Daytime, praised Osman’s contribution to the show’s success and expressed gratitude for his work over the years. House of Games, which features four celebrities competing for daily prizes over five episodes each week, has become a fan favorite under Osman’s guidance.

Osman’s career spans two decades, including work as a creative director at Endemol UK and production credits on popular shows like Deal or No Deal and Total Wipeout. He initially rose to fame as a co-host of Pointless before focusing on House of Games and his bestselling book series, Thursday Murder Club, which was adapted into a Netflix film produced by Steven Spielberg.

In addition to his TV work, Osman was recently appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his contributions to literature and broadcasting. The announcement, made in the New Year Honours list, brought Osman great joy and pride.

While fans will miss Osman’s presence on House of Games, they can look forward to seeing who will be the next host of this beloved game show. Stay tuned for more updates on the transition and the future of House of Games.
