David Oyelowo, Hayley Atwell, and Jack Huston to Star in ‘Treasure Island’ Series
Avast ye! Get ready for a new take on the classic pirate adventure “Treasure Island” as it sails into the high seas of streaming. MGM+ in the U.S. and Paramount+ in the U.K. & Ireland are teaming up for an exciting new six-part series inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling epic.
The series will feature a star-studded cast including David Oyelowo as the iconic pirate Long John Silver, Hayley Atwell as Bess Hawkins, Jack Huston as Aaron Graham, Tomer Capone as Billy Bones, and Tom Sweet as Jim Hawkins. The story follows Jim Hawkins’ transformation from a sheltered boy to a daring young pirate after he discovers a legendary treasure map, thanks to his quick-thinking mother Bess.
Set against the backdrop of the Caribbean on the brink of revolution and the mysterious Skeleton Island, “Treasure Island” promises to be a thrilling adventure filled with shifting alliances, dangerous secrets, and looming peril. As Jim navigates this treacherous world, he must confront challenges that test his courage, loyalty, and identity, all while chasing after a valuable fortune.
The show is a joint venture between Paramount+ and MGM+ in association with Playground, created for television by Robert Murphy, and directed by Jeremy Lovering, William McGregor, and Paul Walker. Production is in full swing, with the series set to premiere on Paramount+ in the U.K. and Ireland, and on MGM+.
